Life in a Small Town

An Interview with Luke from Alien Adoration

Question: Hi Luke, thanks so much for joining us today. Please, tell us a bit about yourself.

Luke: It’s my pleasure. I’m a carpenter, and own my own company. Besides my work truck, I also drive a Harley.

Question: Can you tell us about Rachel?

Luke: She’s my lovely next door neighbor, but she never seems to want to talk to me. Though, I wish she would.

Question: What was your first thought when you saw her?

Luke: We met once when we were children. Though, I don’t know if she remembers me. She was so kind then. And I was captivated by her eyes. When I moved back to Hanton, I thought she was… is absolutely beautiful. I don’t understand why she avoids me.

Question: What is your favorite thing about her?

Luke: Everything.

Question: What is your greatest fear?

Luke: That Rachel will never talk to me. I mean, it’s been two years already.

Question: What is your greatest strength? Weakness?

Luke: My greatest strength is patience. My greatest weakness is Rachel.

Question: What is your favorite color?

Luke: Green, like Rachel’s eyes.

Question: If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Luke: Away from this blasted city. Doesn’t matter where.

Question: If you could spend a whole day with Rachel, where would you go and what would you do?

Luke: I’d take her out on my Harley, and let her decide where and what.

Question: Boxers or Briefs?

Luke: Wouldn’t you like to know?

Chocolate or Vanilla?

Luke: Chocolate.

Luke, thank you for visiting with us today!

Luke: Thank you! Hey, listen, if you’re ever talking to Rachel, let her know that I don’t bite.

Erotic dreams fill her with need…

Night after night, Rachel fantasizes about her sexy, playboy neighbor. But in her small town, no one changes, least of all the bad boy next door. But when Luke rescues her not once but twice from disastrous dates, she dares to believe her knight in black leather armor may be the right man for her after all.

Until she learns the truth…

Life on Earth has never been easy for Luke. Stranded as a little boy, he struggled to craft an existence for himself, but he never forgot the first human he met–and he never stopped wanting to see her again. Returning to Hanton, Luke longs for Rachel. Yet, nothing goes as he plans, and Rachel barely notices him. Convincing her he isn’t like all the jerks she’s dated means telling her the truth, but can she handle it?

Can she overcome her fears, or will she deny her alien adoration and leave him stranded once more?

“Need a lift?”

The voice was deep and masculine, one she didn’t hear very often, but would recognize anywhere. Luke. Wonderful! He wouldn’t talk to me before, but now that I’m topless and sopping wet, he notices me.

She circled slowly to stare at the leather-clad figure sitting atop his motorcycle. The visor of his helmet covered most of his face, leaving only his luscious lips and deep, jutting chin, covered in light stubble, exposed. What would they feel like against her lips? Between her legs? Her body tingled.

“Earth to Rachel. Do you need a lift, or should I leave you here in the pouring rain?”

Oh God, he knows my name. Since they’d never actually talked—she’d only heard him greeting his dates—her name on his lips came as a surprise. “Um, yes, I’d appreciate a ride.” On his Harley, and if she was lucky, in his bed. Anywhere. Her romance-first rule didn’t apply to him. He’d already seduced her plenty in her dreams.

Remaining on his bike, he yanked a helmet from his saddlebag and held it out to her. “What happened to your pretty blouse?”

Pretty blouse? He’d seen her earlier? “I….” Fluttering rolled through her stomach. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

She grabbed the helmet from him, fit it over her soaked hair, and buckled the chinstrap. Straddling the seat behind him, she fumbled with her hands, wondering where to place them, no bar behind her to hold on to. Oh, what it would be like to wrap her arms around him, lean against his wide back covered in leather. But what if he didn’t want her to touch him?

Luke pushed off from the curb. “I suggest you hold onto me or you’re going to fall off.”

The bike lurched forward with a roar. She clasped her hands around his waist, her fingers coming together temptingly close to his manhood, cheek pressed to his cowskin jacket. His deep chuckle reverberated across her skin.

“I told you to hang on.”

And she could lean on him forever. Being so close to him with pure raw power between her legs moved her better than any fantasy she had ever created. But what is going to happen when he takes me home? Or will he invite me to his house instead?

She pressed her lips together. Sure, she wanted to know what lay under his tight pants, but she refused to be another conquest. I can’t handle it.

He drove into her driveway too soon, leaning the bike over enough for her to slip off. She removed the helmet and handed it back to him. “Thank you. I appreciate the ride.”

Tucking the helmet away, he nodded. “You want to come over for coffee?”

That and more. Though she refused to go anywhere in her state of disarray. “Um, no, I’m kind of wet.”

“Another time, then?”

She nodded. Shit, why did I say no? They could strip down together and have all kinds of fun. But he drove away before she had a chance to retract her words.

Please join me in congratulating, Jessica on her new release, THE ZURIAN CHILD as she shares her journey from e-book to print, the blurb and an excerpt from The Zurian Child.

Jessica Subject:

Ever since I received my first e-reader (a Kobo) for Mother’s Day 2010, I’ve been devouring eBooks like crazy, buying and reading more than I ever have each year.

Because I can access them so much easier. All I have to do it hop on my computer (too dangerous for me to buy on e-reader – don’t want to start that yet), and find the book I’m looking for in one of many eBook retailers that I purchase from, pay for it, and I’ve got a new book to read. I don’t have to drive anywhere, and hope the book store had the one I’m looking for. I don’t have to order it and wait for the book to arrive. An eBook is there, instantly.

All of my stories are published in eBook format as well, so of course, I like to support my fellow eBook authors, including Selena Robins. (If you haven’t read What a Girl Wants yet, what are you waiting for? It rocks!)

Now though, I have my first print book. The Zurian Child released October 18 in print.

Oh my gosh! Yes, I read more eBooks than anything, but there is something special about holding a print copy of my book in my hands.

Well, on my e-reader, I not only have all of my eBooks along with hundreds of others, but I also use it to check my email, the weather and more. A print book is just that, my book and nothing else. No other distractions.

The Zurian Child Blurb:

Lindsay Beckett longed to be reunited with her first love, Quinn Montgomery, until she learns what sent him fleeing from her in the first place. He’s an alien, a Hemera. As if that wasn’t enough to ruin her dreams of a perfect life, when their child is born, they discover she fulfills a prophesy. Lindsay wants to ignore it, until her husband is murdered and suddenly believing becomes a matter of survival.

Lindsay and her young daughter are forced to rely on another Hemera, her husband’s partner and best friend, Bryce Beuermann as more and more of the Hemera are slaughtered. Bryce will do anything to help his best friend’s widow–including suppressing his own deep feelings for her.

The Zurian Child excerpt – PG-13

When Bryce and Lorne removed their socks and set their feet on the coffee table, she flushed. She’d had many opportunities over the summer to look at his feet, particularly when he wore only his swim trunks. But she’d kept her distance, catching only the occasional glimpse of his broad, bare chest or other parts of his body, wondering if they matched what she’d seen in her visions.

Both Bryce and Lorne’s toes remained held apart by skin, noticeable skin. Unlike the translucent and pliable tissue which formed between her own toes, theirs appeared thicker, widening the total width of the front of their feet.

“We are not from around here,” Lorne said. He removed his feet from the table and brushed them across the plush carpet. “Your mother, Quinn, and your father, Lindsay, as well as Bryce and I, are from another planet located twenty light years from Earth.”

She turned to her husband, waiting for his reaction. They were his guests telling the ridiculous story. If they were friends of hers, she would have told them to leave.

Quinn only raised his eyebrows. She couldn’t read his expression as he stared at Bryce. “This is not the time to be discussing this. We’ve just returned from out holidays, our honeymoon at that.”

“No, this is the time. We should have talked about this long ago.”

Her gaze shifted between the two of them. This has to be some kind of gag, but this is more likely to come from Michael and Francis, not Bryce, not based on anything Quinn had ever said about him. The punch line didn’t come and Quinn gripped her hand tighter. This is no joke.

Maintaining his dry expression, Bryce continued. “I’ve known all along. I remember my trip to Earth and being placed with the Beuermanns. I don’t remember my parents though.” His chin fell to his chest. “It’s not easy living with a secret like this. I figured my best friend should know.”

Bryce told what he believed to be the truth, but despite her belief in aliens, she refused to accept anyone in the room came from anywhere but Earth.

“I’m sorry, Lindsay.” Quinn refused to look at her, but maintained his hold on her hand.

She’d never felt more uncomfortable than this moment. What did Quinn believe? That he’s an alien?
