When I first started writing, I was such a fan of Lawrence Sanders and Stephen King that I couldn’t make up my mind whether I wanted to write thrillers or horror.
The more I wrote, the more I realized that the love stories in my books were a huge part of the plots. So, I began to concentrate on romance and its various sub-genres. Although I began writing romantic comedies, I moved from there into historicals, then steamy contemporaries and most recently paranormals.
This month, two of my erotic romances (from different publishers) are releasing within days of each other. One’s a steamy contemporary ménage (my first ménage). The other is a smoking hot paranormal (the first in a projected series; with it being my first series). The storylines couldn’t be more different. However, there is the element of danger in each.
Two very distinct villains want my heroines dead and my heroes—bless their Alpha hearts—aren’t going to allow that to happen, even if it means their own lives. Not that my ladies are standing back and letting the guys do all the heavy lifting. Not a chance. These women are feisty and are doing all they can to protect their men. I found that adding that bit of danger to the plots made the romantic aspect of the story that much more satisfying.
