Blurb:
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.
It’s a good story. But it’s not our story. Ours is a lot more colorful.
When I met Dee, I knew right away that she was special. When she met me, she thought I was anything but special—I was exactly like every other guy who’d screwed her over and let her down. It took some time to convince her otherwise, but it turns out I can make a convincing argument when sex is at stake.
You might know where this story’s headed. But the best part isn’t where we ended up.
It’s how we got there.
Excerpt:
She puts on the helmet, but doesn’t climb on the Ducati right away. She stands on the sidewalk, hands on her hips, looking thoughtfully at it. “What would you say if I said I wanted to drive your motorcycle to the party?”
“I’d say you’re shit out of luck. I don’t ride bitch.”
She knocks me upside the head—but my helmet softens the blow. “Then let me take it for a ride myself. Just around the block.”
“I . . .don’t think so.”
She pouts.
I sigh. “Have you ever driven a motorcycle before?”
“No, but I’ve always wanted to.”
“Well, I’ve always wanted to fly, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna strap on a squirrel suit and skydive from the god damn Empire State Building.”
She steps closer, and rubs her placating hands up my chest. “Come on, please? I’ll be really careful and grateful. Really grateful. Like . . .deviantly, let you handcuff me to the bed, kind of grateful.”
Forget the national broadcast system—this is the test. Am I going to stick to my man-guns, keep my pride, and protect my cherished vehicle from almost certain carnage? Or, am I going to be ruled by my dick and swayed by the promise of kinky, have-Dee-at-my-mercy-all-night-long, sex?
No contest.
“Riding bitch, it is.”
Selena’s Review
Thank you, Emma and your publisher for sending me the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
TAMED is the third book in the Tangled series, and although this is a standalone book, I would highly recommend readers dive into Tangled first, it will make reading TAMED that much more enjoyable.
For readers who have read Tangled, this book gives you another point of view to Kate and Drew’s love story.
TAMED is Matthew Fisher and Delores (Dee) Warren’s book, following the same timeline as Tangled and told in Matthew’s point of view.
Matthew is also a hump and dump man-whore, although not to the same extent as Drew. Matthew’s philosophy on love, marriage and life is tamer, less cynical and poignant.
Matthew is his own man in this book, even though he is crude at times (in one particular scene, he did the man-let’s-gross-a-woman-out-thing and I wanted to smack him), he isn’t as mocking and sarcastic as Drew. Matthew doesn’t pull a lot of dick-head moves. The reason I am comparing Matthew and Drew is that I want to point out in this review that Matthew’s voice is different from Drew’s, which is a good thing. Emma Chase does a great job in creating different hero’s and heroine’s with their own distinct voice.
Dee is a fun character and I liked that she wasn’t the stereotypical brainiac. She’s a rocket science, with a sexy, fun and naughty side who enjoyed torturing Drew with her quick wit (some of my favorite exchanges). Dee is strong, self-reliant and a loyal friend, and in this book we learn that Dee also has some anxiety when it comes to relationships and love, as does Matthew. Both of them are struggling with the same issues when it comes to taking the giant leap into a long term relationship.
The development of their friendship harbors no major conflicts, and no deep dark secrets or twists that tear them apart, but there is a wall that both have erected with fears, insecurities that they will have to work through to get to their own happy ending.
TAMED has all the elements of an Emma Chase romance; humor, witty dialogue, steam, spicy scenes and a love story that will endear you to the couple.
If a reader has read Holy Frigging Matrimony, they will know all about Matthew and Dee’s ending, however, TAMED is still enjoyable as Matthew and Dee’s journey from casual acquaintance to friends-with-major benefits to love is filled with cuteness, sweetness and guaranteed to make you smile from the first page until the last.
