Prepare for Halloween with an Asylum & a Contest

Please welcome, multi-talented, award winning author, Denise A. Agnew to my blog, as she talks about her soon to be released, romantic, paranormal, Asylum Trilogy.

Denise is also giving away a book. (Contest details below).

*  *  *  *

Thank you so much to Selena Robins for inviting me to blog here today. I’m happy to be here and share a tidbit with you about my Asylum Trilogy that debuts on Halloween.

This time of year is always special to me. I love autumn, and Halloween is my favorite holiday, so releasing a trilogy filled with chills, romance, and scary paranormal elements is right up my alley.

The Asylum Trilogy formed in my mind one evening as I watched a spooky program about the Trans-Alleghany Lunatic Asylum and the legend of a little girl ghost. That was the springboard for my idea, and I ran with it. As my ideas formed, I realized that one novel wouldn’t hold all I wanted to tell about the asylum.

In Asylum 1: Shadows Wait, I tell the tale of Lilly Luna, a young woman who born in the asylum and grew up there. How does she perceive and deal with the outside world?

What does love feel like to her when the superintendent’s handsome son takes notice of her?

Lilly isn’t an ordinary woman. She’s haunted by the ghost of a young girl she accidentally killed. And the ghosts of other women in the asylum who died at the hands of a serial killer also want her help. They’re dying to get it. No pun intended.

In Asylum 2: Shadows Rise, the ghosts are getting stronger, the evil is thicker. This story is set in 1918 and holds a special meaning in my heart.

Disease and war are two topics only occasionally mentioned in most romance novels. Many romance authors don’t feel it necessary to dig deep into the worst nature of the time periods for which they write their novels. This is neither good nor bad, but I’ll admit that the grit is something I want to know and write. I like getting my hands dirty.

Even before I started research into the era surrounding World War I, I wanted to start writing about the hero and heroine and the extraordinary circumstances they would have encountered going through World War I and the influenza pandemic that ravaged the world from 1917 to 1920. The more I read about these events, the more it became apparent to me that these years were horrific times. Everyone on earth was in peril in a way few generations had been before.  The people who survived these events were amazing. How could I have not written a romance during this time period?

In Asylum 3: Shadows Fall, Tranquil View Asylum has been turned into condos. But you know the evil is there, still festering, still haunting any who dare entered its halls. A woman who believes in the supernatural and owns a new age shop knows there’s something awful in Tranquil View. The ex-marine who doesn’t believe in the paranormal knows something happened to his mother, but he refuses to believe the evil in the asylum had anything to do with it. As the asylum wraps them in fear, they’ll turn to a paranormal investigation team to discover what happened to his mother, and how to survive the darkness living within the building.

For blurbs and excerpts, please stop by my website.

There you’ll discover all the information on my books, including the Asylum Trilogy. Also, be certain to sign up for my monthly newsletter on my website. I’m putting out an additional newsletter after the Asylum Trilogy is released for a reminder to all interested readers.

Love’s a Beach

Welcome to the Love’s A Beach Blog Hop!

The Love’s A Beach Blog Hop theme goes well with my current release, WHAT A GIRL WANTS, as the book takes place in Hawaii and the heroine, Maddie Saunders’ favorite quote is: “Life’s a beach and then you have sex on it.”

For the Love’s A Beach Blog Hop, I’m posting a character interview featuring, the hero and heroine from WHAT A GIRL WANTS.

I hope you enjoy this post and please feel free to ask either character a question for your chance to be entered into a draw to win one of many prizes.

Also, don’t forget to hop on over to the other blogs and enjoy the various snippets and excerpts other authors are posting for this blog hop. Link and banner for the blog hop is at the bottom of this post.

My character interview with Maddie & Alex from WHAT A GIRL WANTS

Selena: Thanks for jumping out of the book to join me today. Maddie, let’s start with you. What was your journey like in What A Girl Wants

Maddie: The plane trip from to Hawaii was uneventful—

Alex: I have to interrupt here. Uneventful? Is that what you call it?

Maddie: Come on, Alex, even you have to admit it was classic. Besides, you laughed at the prank I pulled on you. Anyway, as for your initial question, Selena, I enjoyed the adventures you created for us, especially the humorous moments. Of course, what’s a romance without heartache, physical pain, angst and a ton of conflict?

Selena: Are you complaining about all that?

Maddie: Me? Never. I’m not a complainer, especially to my creator who has total control over my destiny. I may be a little impetuous—

Alex: A little?

Two Sides of the Same Coin by Misty Evans PLUS & Contest to win “Witches Anonymous”

Please welcome MISTY EVANSauthor of, Witches Anonymous (I love this cover!) to my blog as she discusses life as the mother of twins, writing, and witches. (Contest details listed below).

* * *

I’m the mother of twins. Twin sons and twin genres. My stories are my babies, just like my real kids, but neither my sons nor my genres resemble each other.

One of my sons is a brunette who plays guitar and loves baseball. He wants to be a marine biologist or a computer programmer or (fill in the flavor of the day). The other is a blonde who plays drums and loves skateboarding. He wants to be Albert Einstein, period. People who meet them for the first time don’t believe they’re twins. If I hadn’t been there for the c-section that followed twenty-two hours of labor, I might not believe it either.

Welcome Denise Agnew – Interview – Excerpt & Contest

Please join  me in welcoming and congratulating Denise Agnew on her latest release BEFORE THE DAWN.

Denise is here to chat with us, share an excerpt of BEFORE THE DAWN and is offering a prize for one lucky blog commentator (details below).

I’ve had the honor and pleasure to critique Denise Agnew’s latest release BEFORE THE DAWN.

I highly recommend this beautifully written historical.

The chemistry between Elijah and Mary Jane is strong from the moment they meet, increasing with every encounter. A tortured hero, a strong heroine, both vulnerable and in danger, makes for high suspense, sizzling sexual tension and great love scenes.

Welcome Chick Dick Mystery Author, NANCY LAUZON – Plus: Win One of Two Books!

Welcome Nancy and thank you for sharing an excerpt, a delicious recipe,  hosting a contest, and letting us know all about your CHICK DICK MYSTERIES.

Two lucky winners will be able to read this intriguing, page turning mystery. (Contest details below)

Selena’s Review of SAVING HALEY:

Nancy Lauzon’s flair for unique storytelling and unforgettable characters along with her talent for writing page-flipping prose, keeps the reader riveted to SAVING HALEY. Once again, Nancy Lauzon had this reader feeling the emotions of each character, with laughter, tension and at times a few tears.

SAVING HALEY features an intelligent, strong heroine, and a heart-throb hero who both have a past that they have to deal with in order to be able to move ahead. It is in these characters and in the distinctive plot and subplot that the reader will experience emotional turmoil in this must read.
Nancy Lauzon blends the right amount of mystery, romance, and sprinkles it with a good balance of eccentric, quirky, fun and mysterious characters.

SAVING HALEY is a fast paced mystery that will take the reader on an intriguing path.

INTERVIEW:

Selena: If we could ask your best friend, “What’s the funniest thing you could say about Nancy?” What do you think she would say?

I hope she would say that the funniest thing about me is my writing. Most of my novels contain a bit of humour, and I like books that lift me up. There is so much negativity in the world these days, and so many serious, depressing books. We need to lighten up, and I hope that my books put a smile on readers’ faces. Having said that, Saving Haley is a little bit darker than my other novels.

Welcome Indie Writer Allen Schatz & A coupon offer for his debut novel

COMING JULY 1, 2011

Game 7: Dead Ball – in PRINT!

Indie Writer Allen Schatz is pleased to announce the launch of the print version of his debut novel!

The eBook version has been rated 4- & 5-stars at Amazon, B&N, Smashwords, and more…

“Allen Schatz, in his first novel, has proven a welcome newcomer to an overcrowded thriller market sadly diluted with average ho-hum fare… I would highly recommend this book to any thriller fan who is tired of the same old mediocre drivel that is plaguing our bookshelves… Schatz has proven he belongs in the writing game…”

“You might expect a mystery involving a baseball umpire in the World Series to center on fixing games. Schatz happily has chosen to go in a less obvious direction… Game 7 has a huge cast of characters – it is to Schatz’s credit as a writer that they’re reasonably easy to keep straight… If you like baseball and thrillers, Game 7: Dead Ball is a must read…”

“Simply put, it’s a fun, entertaining book that I would recommend for anyone’s summer reading list.”

Order your copy of the book beginning July 1 at: https://www.createspace.com/3619727
